The Pybro is one of the most popular subclasses in the Pyro's family. They are considered by many the Engineer's best friend, since they will always guard and help them.
Description[]
The Pybro doesn't have any particular characteristic. Pybros often wear stylish, coloured clothing for various reasons, or simply go all default.
Habitat[]
We got a lot sightings of Pybros on various maps and cities, like the Payload, Attack/Defend or Capture the Flag region. Pybros tend to love to migrate to ctf_sawmill since it's an easily accessible environment with a lot of engineers (to take care of).
Behaviour[]
ALL Pybros set themselves the same main goal within a match, to guard and help Engineers forming and maintaining Sentry Gun/Dispenser nests with specific weapons that are optimal for their task. Pybros tend to be for the most part chill with his Engineer and his team, but tend to be really aggressive with the opposite team (Referring to the BLU/RED companies).
If you attempt to capture the objective or destroy their local Engineer's contraptions, they will take it personally and make sure you become nothing more than a charred corpse (Which isn't a fun scenario to be in).
Relationships[]
Spies, Demomen and Snipers[]
These three type of BLU/RED personnel are the Pybro's nemesis, as they have the abilities to directly harm the Engineer's buildings, so they will definitely aim for those classes if possible.
Spycrab[]
It is (unfortunately) common for Pybros to exterminate Spycrabs who were just passing by. This is not the Pybro's hatred towards spy, but rather an instinct reaction towards seeing one of the members of his Nemesis
Loadout[]
- Primary
- Stock Flamethrower
- Degreaser
- The Degreaser has it's situational uses such as being able to switch to the homewrecker to destroy sappers easier but stock is generally better due to the lesser airblast cost
- Secondary
- Stock Shotgun/Panic attack
- Useful for destroying grenades quickly, the Panic Attack doing this the most effectively due to the higher amount of shots being fired in one burst.
- Scorch Shot
- Along with one of Pyro's few weapons used for long-range harassment, being useful for dissuading Snipers from destroying the sentry from afar or finishing of any fleeing attacker with not to much effort, it also has the bonus of being one of the few weapons that can consistently destroy multiple sticky bombs with a single shot.
- Stock Shotgun/Panic attack
- Melee
- Homewrecker/Maul
- The signature weapon of the Pybro, this sledgehammer deals 200% damage to enemy buildings (sentries, teleporters, and dispensers) in exchange for only dealing 75% damage (compared to the stock melee weapons) to players. That being said, trying to take on a Level 2 or 3 with only the hammer and no defensive buffs is a death sentence for a Pyro. Its true potential roots from the ability to knock off sappers from a friendly engineer's buildings.
- The Neon Annihilator
- As the Neon Annihilator requires two hits to destroy a sapper on a building, it's usually used when an engineer has his sentry nest underwater (such as in 2fort and CTF_Well) or by new players who haven't gotten the Homewrecker from crafting or a random drop yet.
- Homewrecker/Maul
- Cosmetics
- Respectless Rubber Glove Or The Aperture Labs hard hat
- While rarely seen (being only released in Genuine quality as a promotional item for buying Portal 2), there is a chance that the Pybro is wearing this due to being a hard hat.
- Other multi-class hard hat cosmetics exist but are either unreleased (Yeti Park Hardhat) or are rare and expensive (The Grandmaster) for reasons similar but more extreme to the ALHH.
- Respectless Rubber Glove Or The Aperture Labs hard hat
What To Do[]
There is no debating that Pybros are extremely protective, so we don't suggest fighting one. For this reason we prepared some tips to follow:
- PLEASE do not try to steal the intelligence/capture the point, as Pybros often protect these territories
- Don't get yourself too close to sentry nests or engineers' establishments
- If you're a Demoman, Sniper or a Spy personnel, make sure not to get near Pybros
- If Pybros become a glaring issue in the environment, the RED/BLU company should organize a push (w/ Stock Medic) to exterminate the sentry nest and neutralize the Pybro or negotiate to try and move the nest to a less problematic area.
