Overview |
Probably the most well known friendly, Hoovies are a friendly creature found in Team Fortress 2 that is a subclass of the Heavy Weapons Guy. They are usually seen crouching with either their secondary or melee out. In order to be a Hoovy, a Heavy must use an edible item as its secondary. It's best to leave these peaceful creatures alone because they can be deadly in the wrong hands.
Hoovies are the most common friendly and can be found almost anywhere. If you are nice to one, they may give you a snack!
Gear[]
Primary[]
Not important, but usually the Tomislav because of the quick spin up time. They never use their primary unless attacked.
Secondary[]
The icon of the Hoovy has always been the Sandvich, but the Second Banana has lately become popular among Hoovies due to the faster charge time allowing them to have a food item on them without needing to steal a health pack. Young Hoovies can also use the Dalokohs Bar or the Buffalo Steak Sandvich.
Melee[]
Usually the Holiday Punch, but Hoovies without it use other gloves, with some having to resort to just their fists. Sometimes you will witness hoovies using the Frying Pan, The Conscious Objector or the Ham Shank.
Cosmetics[]
The most common cosmetics include the Chicken Kiev, Tough Guys Toque, the All-Father rarely using the snack stack. If the cosmetics are painted they will most likely be Pink As Hell, especially the All-Father. Many Hoovies also wear Pyro-Vision Goggles, along with many other friendlies. If by chance a Hoovy wears a body misc, they tend to use cosmetics that make them appear soft, puffed-up and welcoming. The Gift Bringer and the Paka Parka are good examples of this. The Gift Bringer is especially known for having a large paint region, so expect to see a lot of Pink As Hell.
Behavior[]
Actions[]
To be a Hoovy you don't have to do much. Just crouch down with a melee out and you are good to go. Hoovies using the Holiday Punch will likely try to hit you from the back, most will also go for the taunt kill, but this should not be taken as a sign of aggression. Some Hoovies may instead give a sandvich after a Holiday Punch hit if they fear that they have injured the other player.
A common thing for Hoovies in groups to do is have a picnic. They form a loose circle and throw their Sandviches into the center.
Hoovies can still perform some unexplainable actions that are still left as a mystery to other players, and even to themselves. Some have a tendency to throw their sandviches onto active teleporters and crouch in front of them as if they were performing in a ritual.
Hoovies may also use sprays to alert other players of their existence. The most common sprays being the classic "Sandvich Dispenser, High Five for free Sandvich" and "Hunting Hoovies will result in a fine of 12000 out of your steam wallet".
Chat[]
Hoovies will often spam the "Dispenser here" voice command, which is the origin of his famous phrase "Pootis". Some more advanced Hoovies may use the Showdown taunt (kill taunt for the stock Fists and the Holiday Punch) along with their voice line "Pootis Spencer Here" cut off by the voice line for Showdown, to appear as if saying, "Pootis POW!".
Downsides[]
Unfortunately, although Hoovies are quite large in numbers, they do have threats that could endanger them. They will still likely be attacked by members of an opposing team; such is inevitable. Hoovies found on densely-packed casual servers do face the risk of getting votekicked for idling. The Pros and Cons of having a Hoovy in a match is still a topic of debate.
